MBP Militia Closes the Doors at Castle Conquest

MBP Militia and fellow defenders make history at Castle Conquest XXIV.

On Saturday, September 29, 2007, EMR Paintball Park (located in New Milford, Pennsylvania) hosted its twenty-fourth Castle Conquest. This event takes place twice a year at EMR, once in the spring and once in the fall. The actual game-play of the event is centered around the 30,000 square foot Castle AAARRGH, where attackers attempt to over-take the enormous Castle from the defenders with some of the most intense and in-your-face paintball a player could ever imagine.

The game began on Saturday morning around 11am with the Canadian Contingent leading the defense with 4 to 1 odds in favor of Team Voodoo and the other attacking teams. Canadian Contingent were joined by Team Ragnarok, MBP Militia, Ferrymen Paintball and Maltese Militia to name a few. Along with Team Voodoo some of the attacking teams were Joint Fury, Pub Crawling and Delta Paintball Team. The defending teams immediately set up a strong perimeter around the Castle walls and some players even ventured out into the nearby "Tippmann Town" to slow the expected surge of attackers from reaching the Castle easily. "PURE PAINTBALL INSANITY" would ensue shortly after the game began as it didn't take players very long to engage in combat.

As the game went on the attackers kept steady pace in attempting to breach the Castle walls, but the Canadian Contingent had an excellent strategy in place and the defenders fought diligently all day in repelling the oncoming assault. By 1pm on Saturday the fighting around the outside of the Castle got so intense that it could be heard from across the paintball park. The attackers tried their best to put enough pressure on the Castle entrances so that they could overtake it, but failed over and over again. At approximately 2pm on Saturday, the attackers still had not overtaken the Castle, in fact, they had not even secured a single holding point or prop within its walls, therefore, the game was called.

The defenders had done the unthinkable and stopped the attacking onslaught all day. The game officially ended with referee whistles being sounded and the roaring cheer of victory from the defenders inside the Castle. The victory was bittersweet for the defenders knowing the odds were stacked against them 4 to 1 and realizing the extensive talent in the teams that had been attacking them for three straight hours.

Overall, it was a day for the record books at EMR Paintball Park. The group of defenders were only the fifth group in EMR's long history to defend Castle AAARGHH successfully. Also, the group was only the second group to ever shut out the attackers in a victory (gave up no props during the game).

MBP Militia would like to personally thank Blue, Sue, Deuce, the EMR staff, the EMR home teams and the referees at EMR Paintball Park for assisting and putting together such an enjoyable and memorable event. The entire team is grateful for their experience at EMR and are looking forward to returning to EMR soon.
